It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Doyle Hollis (Wood River, Illinois), born in Alton, Missouri, who passed away on May 21, 2021, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Hollis and Sara Hollis (Nance); his spouse Eddie W. Nicholas; his son-in-law David Matthews; his grandson Jimmy Dale Hollis, Jr.; his great grandchild Amber Tappendick; and his sister Opal.
He is survived by: his children, Jim (Jan Hollis), Herbert (Helen Hollis), Nicholas "Nick" (Linda Hollis), John (Vickie Hollis) and Gail Matthews of Brownsville; his grandchildren, Ye Hollis, Jay (April Hollis), LaDana Hollis, Dean, Terri Hollis, Belinda, Willie Gregory, Nick Hollis II, Tom Hollis, Stephanie Tappendick, Johnny, Jessica Hollis, Jared Hollis, Tim Lewis, Melissa Stark and Forty; his sister Mildred Sullivan of Roxana; and also Mauri Taylor. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Illinois Free Will Baptist Board of Missions (IGO) and will be accepted at the funeral home.
