He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Nelson and Blanche Nelson (Coffman); his wife Charlotte June Badman; his son Jeffery L. Nelson; and his siblings, Larry, Benny, Dave, Clarence, Lee Nelson, Louise, Ruth Ann, Mae, Mabel, Janie and Helen.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Nelson, Jr., Karen Nelson (Marvin Matlack, Jr.) and Denise K. Carter (Josh); and his grandchildren, Robert Nelson, III, Amber Legate, Ashley Legate, Alisha Wiscombe and Zachary Carter. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
