He was predeceased by: his wife Mary "Kay" Tappy; his children, John Garrigus and Sandra Starr; and his grandchildren, Gordy Cain II and Tracie Cornelius.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Jackie Davis, Timothy Cain, David Bedwell Jr. and Charles Starr; and his sister Martha Rennick. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.
