He was predeceased by: his father Melchor Garza Sr.; and his brother Jaime. He is survived by: his wife Dora E. (Chapa); his children, Yadira (Tony), Melchor III (Tita) and Gerardo; his grandchildren, Daniel, Isabelle and Maya Annalise; his mother Graciela Montemayor of Garza; and his siblings, Manuel Angel (Lupita), Jose Luis, Javier (Nidia), Oliverio (Elsy), Ana Galvan (Gustavo), Gloria Cardenas and Graciela (Ramon). He is also survived by many aunts and uncles, cousins and nephews.
