He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Hobbie and Anna Hobbie (Renken); his wife Jean Upchurch; and his siblings, Earl, Calvin, Ray, Glen, Dorothy, Evelyn and Betty.

He is survived by: his son Ron (Melodie); his grandson Kristopher; and his brothers, Kenneth and David.
