He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shields McKay and Rose Emma Walters McKay. He is survived by: his wife Lynda Moore McKay; his daughters, Caroline Cunningham (Robert) and Eliza McKay (Jason Eder); his stepson Derek Anderson; his grandsons, William (Billy) and Baird Cunningham; his stepgrandchildren, Jordan, Samuel and Emelia Anderson; his sister Marta Rasmussen; and his nieces, Amber and Tenna Rasmussen.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Winnetka Congregational Church (725 Pine St, Winnetka, IL 60093).

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Chicago Botanic Garden will be appreciated.
