He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd B. Johnson and Agnes Johnson (Duggins); his wife Elsie Johnson; his grandson Gene D. Johnson III; and his brothers, Don Johnson and Edwin Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, Gene Johnson Jr. (Wendy) of Pecatonica, Jim Johnson (Karen) of Winnebago, Diane Capriola of Winnebago and Dan Johnson (Jill) of Winnebago; his grandchildren, Nicky Doner (Jeremy), Jerika Goike (Josh), Michael Capriola, Bishop Capriola, Mackenzie Johnson, Zachary Johnson and Jacob Johnson; his great grandchildren, Aiden, Colten Doner, Wyatt, Breyah, Breylon Johnson, Mady and Oliver Goike; his sisters, Dolores Butts of California, MO and Evelyn Muchow of Winnebago; and his friend Alice Pierce of Freeport. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
