She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Charles Palmer and Florine Palmer; her husband Frank Schoenborn; her daughters, Sandra Price and Marianne Veenstra (Dan); her grandchildren, Ralph Price and Kaitlyn Paschke; and her siblings, Rick Palmer and Linda "Lynn" Suppes.

This charity was important to Joan, as she had multiple family members who served in the military.
