He was predeceased by: his wife Anna; his son Bill; his parents, Leon and Lucy; and his sibling Monnie.

He is survived by: his children, Denise Talip (David), Charles (Linda) and Mari Nickels (Tim); his grandchildren, Michael (Amy), Thomas (Kristi), Anthony, Cory, Jonathon and Logan; and his sister Betty (late Leonard). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
