He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Emmering and Winifred Emmering; and his son David. He is survived by: his wife LaVerne "Vernie"; his daughters, Lynette Zohn (Ira) of New Jersey and Lauri Schroeder (Keith) of Illinois; and his grandchildren, Darin, Steven, David, Dylan and Briana. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
He served as the President of the International College of Dentists, President of the ICD Foundation, and President of Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity.
