Donald H. Hoffman Obituary
Donald H. Hoffman, 71, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by family in Windsor, Illinois.
Don was born on November 20, 1951, in Pontiac, Illinois. He was the son of W. Harland and Delores (Tofte) Hoffman. He was a 1970 graduate of Tri-Point High School in Cullom. On March 3, 1979, Don married Charlotte Holt and together they were blessed with 43 years of marriage, two children and two grandchildren. Don worked as a tool and die machinist for Caterpillar Inc. in Joliet for 36 years until his retirement at which time he and Char relocated to Windsor. He did not stay retired for long before going back to work for G.L. Doemelt in Arcola for another eight years. Don enjoyed working, boating, visiting St. Pete Beach, playing euchre, motorcycles, lending a helping hand, working on projects around the house, vehicles, and boat. He loved watching Illini basketball and Da Bears.
He is survived by his wife, Char of Windsor; son, Adam Hoffman of Shirley; daughter, Amie (Brian Davis) Hoffman of South Wilmington; two grandchildren: Zada and Greta Hoffman of Shirley; siblings: Diane (John) Smolkovich of Cabery, Ron (Sharon) Hoffman of Buckingham, Jim Hoffman of Cullom, and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Ellen Hoffman.
Honoring Don's wishes, no services will be held. Celebrations of life will be held at a date to be determined with family/friends, the boating community and St. Pete Beach Tiki Bar Crawlers. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family.
