He was predeceased by: his parents, James I. Coultas and Beulah Green Coultas; and his sister Sue Killebrew. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Ehlert; his children, Julie Anderson (Dale) of Hudson, IL, Lora King (Andrew) of Houston, TX and J. Kent Coultas of Winchester; his grandchildren, Alyssa Schafer (Zachary) of St. Louis, Megan Eddinger (Nick) of Houston, TX and Andrew Potter (Megan) of Portland, OR; his stepgrandchildren, Brandon Anderson of Cherry Point, SC, Steven King (Melissa) of Corpus Christi, TX and Rachael Anderson of Normal, IL; and his great grandchildren, Liam and Isabella. He is also survived by 3 nieces.
