He was predeceased by: his parents, Fredrick Bernard and Amelia Teresa Habing (Laux); his daughter Sheila Soltysik; his grandsons, Ronnie and Ryan; his son-in-law Rick Thompson; and his brothers, Pat Habing and Charles Habing.
He is survived by: his wife Vera; his children, Sue Thompson of Wilmington, Sandy Adams (Bob) of Wilmington and James Habing (Tina) of Wilmington; his son-in-law Todd Soltysik (Doreen) of Kankakee; his grandchildren, Jeff Thompson, Stephanie Thompson, Chris Thompson (Katie Bowman), Carrie Van Duyne (Brent), Tony Adams (Natalie), Curt Adams (Shanta), Bryan Adams (Taylor), Bobby Soltysik and Brian Butcher; his great grandchildren, Cole Thompson (Hayleigh), Kile Thompson, Zach Thompson, Aiden Thompson, Korbin Thompson, Tucker Thompson, Mike Catlin, Hunter Catlin, Zander Van Duyne, Chance Van Duyne, Blayne Adams (Katie), Makenna Adams, Peyton Adams and Logan Adams; his great great grandchildren, Eoghan Thompson, Declan Thompson and Maverick Thompson; his siblings, Jean Skelly (Richard) of Kankakee and Tom Habing (Sherrie) of Rockford; his sisters-in-law, Pam Habing of Milford and Nancy Habing of Ames; and his friends, Bryan and Nitsa Smythe of South Carolina. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ron's memory to Illinois Veterans Home Manteno Volunteer Services, or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
