It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leonard E. French of Wilmington, Illinois, born in Joliet, Illinois, who passed away on August 4, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward French and Mary French (Davy). He is survived by: his wife Mary M. Shostrom; his brother Davy French (Priscilla) of Eureka, MT; his children, Dawn Alvarez (Arturo III) of Campton Hills, IL, Debra Houston (Michael) of Roscoe, IL, Brian French of Freeport, IL. and Barry French of Freeport, IL.; his grandchildren, Robert John "RJ" Knapp (Kayse) of Houston, TX, Mitchell J. Houston (Claire) of Columbus, IN, Rachel Houston of Littleton, CO, Adreanna Alvarez, Elena Alvarez and Natahlea Alvarez of Campton Hills, IL.; and his great grandchildren, Bethanny, Suzanne, Michael and Jordan Knapp of Houston, TX.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the First United Methodist Church of Freeport and FHN Hospice.
