She was predeceased by: her sisters-in-law, Shirley Van Duyne, Margaret Van Duyne and Martina Van Duyne; her parents, Matthew Crawford and Maurine Crawford (Hill); her husband Leo Van Duyne; and her siblings, Jack (Frances), Robert (Anna Jean), James "Dutch" Crawford and Jean Ludwig (Hap).

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Alan Johnston (Kelley), Julie Quigley (Jamie), Jeffrey Rabideau (Valerie), Todd Rabideau (Kristen), Kirsten Van Duyne, Sarah Van Duyne (Matthew), Jennifer Obert (Justin), Jamie Mulvihill (Ryan), Christopher Kernc (Savannah), Samantha Kernc, Abigail Sorensen (Daniel), Evan Van Duyne, Jack Van Duyne, David Van Duyne, Kiley McKim and Mia McKim; her great grandchildren, McKenna Quigley (Jacob), Ryan Quigley, Ava Rabideau, Chase Rabideau, Alyssa Johnston, Anthony Johnston, Will Rabideau, Wren Rabideau, Zachary Mulvihill, Matthew Mulvihill, Nicholas Mulvihill, Nola Obert, Willis Obert and George Kernc; her brother-in-law Dennis Van Duyne; and her close friend Ann Latz.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Joan's memory to her family for distribution to charities of their choosing.

“Sharing in your sadness as you remember Joan. I remember her and think of her as my second Mom. At times growing up, I spent more time at her house than I did at mine, sometimes to much time, but I always had fun and have very fond memories at your house and Leonard's Dam.
