He was predeceased by: his wife Constance "Connie" Peterson; his son James Anthony Santostefano; his grandson Kenneth "Nat" Paxson; and his parents, Adeline "Peterson" Von Tell and Nels Von Tell.

He is survived by: his children, Bradley Henkin (Amie), Ann Rutherford, Dianne Paxson (Kenneth, Jr.), Nicolette Schroeder (Joseph, Jr.) and Michael Santostefano (Erin).

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Saint John Henry Newman Parish-Saint Joan of Arc (3698 Lyons St, Evanston, IL 60203). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
