He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Stephanie; his brothers, Eugene (Lucille) and Jerome (Ruth); and his siblings-in-law, John Pienta (Kitty) and Betty Shopin (Jack).
He is survived by: his children, Lynette Benda (Richard), Michael (Stacey), Kristin Gierut and Patrick (Becky); his grandchildren, Joe, Harry, Lou, John, Addy, Grant, Maggie, Stephanie, Bobby and Emily; his sister Marilyn Doherty (Robert); his wife Judy Pienta; and his granddaughter Judy.
