He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Cox and Stella Moore Cox; his wife Dorothy Jackson; his son David Cox; and his siblings, Marvin, Frankie Cox, Wanda Gentry, Elma Adams, Betty Murphy and Barbara McWhorters.
He is survived by: his children, Melvin Leroy Cox (Donna) of White Hall, Duane Cox (Karen) of Coffeen and Judy Harr of Hardin; his grandchildren, Kim Parmenter (Rob), Nikki Buchannan (Jimmy), Jamey Hoots (Gina), Brandi Bowman, Heaven Wiser, Amanda Crain (J. R.), D. J. Cox (Deanna), Cheyenne Cox, Dakota Cox and Austin Cox; and his siblings, Ivy VanMeter of White Hall, Mary Antle of Jacksonville and Junior Cox (Dorothy) of White Hall. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren.
