He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Hillis and Opal Walker Hillis; his spouse Shirley Coates; his children, Patricia Ann Pingel (Matt) of Cedar Hill and David Gregory Hillis (Joan) of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Emily Hillis, Adam Hillis, Nicholas Pingel (Carla) and Michael Pingel; his great grandchildren, Lily, Owen, Will and August; and his sister Catherine Sponslor.
Memorials are suggested to the White Hall Pentecostal Church or Belltown Cemetery.
