He was predeceased by: his father Bernard Bachmann. He is survived by: his wife Dianne; his children, Christopher Bachmann (Maria), Andrew Bachmann (Winnie), Sarah Bachmann-Lane (Pete) and Scott Bachmann (Kat); his grandsons, Nathan and Cyrus Bachmann; his mother Bonnie Bachmann; and his sisters, Carrol Everson (Rich) and Barbara Teschner (Gary). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The pandemic gave him the opportunity to teach his grandsons piano via video chat.

“My wife Laura and I live across the street from David. Our neighbor David was a kind man. When I was outside and David "Dave" was outside, we would often share a conversation or wave. My wife and I would have coffee in the living room and in the spring comment on the bright red tulips that would grow alongside the driveway. We will miss seeing him outside around the house.
