He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Amato and Betty Amato; his father-in-law Bernard; and his brother Tony Amato (Lorraine). He is survived by: his wife Betty Ann Amato; his daughters, Gina Hamann (Jeff) and Natalie Amato-Zech (Steve); his grandchildren, Jacqueline Hamann, Grace Hamann and Chesney Zech; his mother-in-law Ida Matrisciano; and his siblings, Grace Bratu, Nancy Amato and Michael Amato (Avis). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
