She was predeceased by: her parents, Ed Cagney and Laurette Cagney. She is survived by: her husband Louis W. Vitek; her son Michael L. Vitek; and her sisters, Annie Cooney and Rettsey Hull (Greg).
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Divine Infant Church (1601 Newcastle Ave, Westchester, IL 60154). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery-Hillside (1400 S Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL 60162).
In lieu of flowers, Mary Ellen only left two strong instructions: 1) Sing at Mass with Gusto and 2) be grateful and kind and your life will be filled with happiness.
