He was predeceased by: his son Tony Lumpkin; his parents, John William Shines Sr. and Cremolia Thornton; and his sister Ruby. He is survived by: his children, Michael Shines, Jonna Shines, Tonette Lumpkin, John Huff and Khaliah Shines; and his siblings, Mary, Kenneth, Mentha, Ella and Jimmy.
