It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald J August (Westchester, Illinois), who passed away on October 30, 2020, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph August and Peggy August. He is survived by: his wife Gertrude "Gert"; his children, Rachel August and Ashley Gaughan (Kelly); and his siblings, Joanne August, James August (Michelle) and Barbara Holloman (James).

“Our prayers go out to Don's family. Don was a special athlete, coach, and friend. He will be missed by many of his peers and players. I coached Don on the UIC football team. He played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and defensive back. I also had the good fortune to teach Don volleyball in the advanced PE class. I think that is where he got the bug to pursue a career in coaching. We are truly sorry for your loss. Mike and Pat McGovern d”

“August family, I am so sorry for your loss, word fail me right now. Don, was my club coach at times during my time at UIC and a mentor. I am sure he thought of me as a pain, at that time. I was in his office all the time, just hanging out. Don, Ray Clay and Walt Verson, all helped me through my time at UIC. Then, I had the pleasure coaching Don and Gert's daughter Ashley, for four years at SXU. Don and the August family, thanks for being a part of my life. Love, Bob Heersema UIC, 1982-86”
