She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Omer and Verna Ethel Slichenmyer (Fleming); her husband Chester Eugene Semple; her sister Wanda Egleston; her brother-in-law Jim Egleston; her brothers, Joe Slichenmyer and Stanley Slichenmyer; her sister-in-law Wilma Slichenmyer; her great grandchildren, Keith Walker, Parker Finley and Lauren Finley; her daughter-in-law Patti Walker; her great grandchild Vera Semple; and her granddaughter Sarah Semple.
She is survived by: her children, Melvin Walker, Verna Mae Semple, Charles Semple (Lynn) of Teutopolis, Illinois, George (Lora) of West Liberty, Illinois, Paul (Janice) of Effingham, Illinois, Dale (Janice) of Effingham, Illinois and Glen (Karen) of Champaign, Illinois; and her sister-in-law Kathy Slichenmyer of Olney. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Meyer Funeral Home - Olney (945 S West St, Olney, IL 62450). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at the Haven Hill Cemetery (1100 N Ludlow St, Olney, IL 62450).
In loving memory of Mary, the family requests memorials to be made to the Carmi Baptist Children's Home (Carmi, Illinois) or HSHS Hospice Care of Effingham.
