He is survived by: his wife Linda Akins (Osteen); his children, Kenneth Dale Akins (Susan) of Huntington and Kim Hazel (Greg) of Champaign; his grandsons, Matthew Hazel (Ali) and Christopher Hazel; and his great grandchildren, Isaiah, Peyton, Logan, Scarlett and Westley.
