He was predeceased by: his sons, James Joseph and James William; his grandson Max Patrick Layden; his siblings, John McGhee (late Margaret), William McGhee (late Mary Sue), Mary Waggener (late Ed) and Dolores McGhee; and also Patricia McKie (late Tom).
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Maxine McGhee (Kuhnert); his daughters, Jaime Lee (Charles) of Asheville and Jennifer Layden (Daniel) of Fishers; his sisters, Josephine Conaughty (late Carl) and Elizabeth Culpepper (Paul); his siblings-in-law, Eileen Hill (Arlen) of Pinckneyville, IL, Gloria Jones (Mark) of Tamaroa, IL, Dianna Kuhnert (late Ronald) of Tamaroa, IL and Curt Donahue (late Joy) of St. Louis, MO; his niece Cheryl DeGarmo (Sidney); and his nephew Curtis Donahue (Lynn). He is also survived by father; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
