She was predeceased by: her parents, Elzie Barnfield and Marie Barnfield (Hampton); her husband Bernard Melvin; and her siblings, Paul, David Barnfield, Dorothy Brown, Ruthie Shockley and Shirley Southerland.
She is survived by: her sons, Keith and Scott Melvin; and her grandchildren, Timmy Melvin (Donica), Andy, Mikalya, Hannah and Joshua Melvin. She is also survived by two great grandchildren.
