Chad Downs Obituary

Chad Downs of West Frankfort, Illinois passed Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 1:44 PM. Chad was born November 4, 1972, in Staunton, Illinois to Alta Faye Leonna (Corky) Oberdalhoff-Hewlett. He worked for many years as the groundskeeper at Franklin County Country Club and was also self-employed in the trade of lawn and landscaping.

Chad loved to hunt, and being amongst mother nature. He was an excellent father and friend. Survivors include his wife Tammy Downs whom he married August 18, 2017, in this union, there were no children. Chad was the father to five children - Masy (Christopher) Tootle of Clinton, Missouri; Taylor Downs of Clinton, Missouri; Sierra Downs of West Frankfort, Illinois; Luke Downs of West Frankfort, Illinois; and Aleaha Downs of West Frankfort, Illinois.

Four grandchildren with one more due in December all of Missouri. He is also survived by one brother Kelly (Chris) Downs of Olive Bridge, New York, one sister Robin (Kevin) Bryan of Columbia, Illinois. His stepfather Lowell Hewlett of West Frankfort, Illinois; two stepbrothers Rex (Mia) Hewlett, Randy Hewlett, both of West Frankfort, Illinois and one stepsister Rena (Mike) Riley of Australia and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, maternal, and paternal grandparents. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 13, 2019 at the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Minister Tyler Gordon officiating.Visitation will be from 9-11 also at the funeral home.
