He was predeceased by: his parents, Viron Peterson and Gladys Peterson (Grant); and his sister Judy Peterson. He is survived by: his wife MaryAnn Schmitt; his children, Judy Peterson of Toluca and Jeff Peterson (Jennifer) of Wenona; and his grandchildren, Madi, Hannah, Sarah, Eli and Jonah.

Memorials may be directed to the Wenona Fire Department or St. Jude's Research Hospital.
