It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Willie Mae Merritt (Waukegan, Illinois), who passed away on September 24, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Harden and Effie Harden; and her siblings, Louise Harden, Katherine Lovelace, Shelvy Jean Bledsoe, Henry L. Harden, Rufus Harden and Kenneth Harden.

She is survived by: her children, Eric Merritt (Caroline Daniels) of San Francisco, CA, Fritz Merritt of North Chicago, IL and Karen Merritt-Wade (Greg Wade) of Kenosha, WI.; and her grandchildren, Amanda Merritt, Andrea Merritt and Audra Bey. She is also survived by great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
