He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene F. Bartels and Helen A. Bartels (Van Beck); and his brother J. Michael Bartels. He is survived by: his wife Teresa Hall Bartels; his sons, Matthew (Tonya), Christopher (Robin), John (Kristen), Patrick (Madeleine Mahan) and Peter (Morgan Buckingham); his grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Chloe, Audrey, William, Charlie, Nicholas, John Michael and Benjamin; his brother Robert (Margarita); and his sister-in-law Judy. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Bartels with a donation to Carmel Catholic High School, United Way of Lake County, or a cause that is close to you.
