He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Henry and Dolores Evelyn Wendte (Diehl); and his brother Duane Wendte. He is survived by: his siblings, Donald Wendte (Pat) of Watson, Dale Wendte of Watson, Diane Greuel (Dean) of Effingham, Debra Sanders of Watson and Dawn Roedl (Dan "Fred") of Mason; and his sister-in-law Christy Wendte of Effingham. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
