He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Hughes and Jane "Jean" Hughes (McKillop); his wife Clara Schafer; his brother Thomas Hughes; his granddaughter Faith Hughes; and his brothers-in-law, John Johnson and Ken Schafer.
He is survived by: his children, Bridget Hughes-Wallace, Clara Hughes, Frank Hughes (Kera) and Thomas Hughes (Aimee); his siblings, Dan Hughes (Sharon) and Sue Johnson; and his siblings-in-law, Jack Schafer (Lisa), Lou Schafer (Sharon) and Debbie Hughes. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild.
