It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virgil Edward Hallberg of Waterloo, Illinois, born in Charles City, Iowa, who passed away on February 1, 2022, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents-in-law, Herman and Hazel Frick; his brothers, Harold, Norman and Delbert Hallberg; his son-in-law James Mercer; and his pet JJ.
He is survived by: his wife Joann Frick Hallberg; and his children, Patricia Sutton (James) of Woodbridge, VA, Steven Hoock (Patti) of Waterloo, IL, Larry Hoock (Sheri) of Pensacola, FL, Mary Jean Mercer of Waterloo, IL, Tracy Snelson (Steve) of Arlington Heights, IL and Laurie Elless (Luke) of Hopedale, IL. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of So. Illinois (Orange Team) or Songs for Soldiers or Monroe Co. Humane Society Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.
