With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Marvin Victor Ries of Waterloo, Illinois, born in Columbia, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 16, 2024 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin George and Frieda Maria Ries; his son-in-law Terry Jones; his siblings, Harold Ries (Imogene) and Lucille Lang (Lavern); and his sisters-in-law, Pauline Doerr (Richard) and Marion Ries.
He is survived by: his wife Rosalie Ries; his daughters, Cindy Jones, Carol Howell (Chris) and Cheri Angel (Mark); his grandchildren, Michael Jones (Kris Kennedy), Patrick Jones (Amanda), George Jones (Brittany), Kevin Jones (Katie), Jessica Shevlin (David), John Howell (Natalie), Chad Angel and Melanie Stumpf (Austin); his great grandchildren, Carson, Owen, Ian Jones, Ellie, Evan Jones, Lane, Lydia, Leah Shevlin, Heston and Hadalyne Howell; and his siblings, Harvey Ries and Loretta Vogt (Joe). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
