He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Muertz and Agatha Muertz; his siblings, Edward Muertz, George Muertz, Theodore Muertz, Geraldine Davis, Delores Johanning, Joseph Muertz and Paul Wirsch; and his granddaughter-in-law Heather Muertz.
He is survived by: his wife Jane A. Muertz; his children, David Muertz (Anita), Dean Muertz (Beth Crosley), Diane Jarvis (Mike) and Donald Muertz (Pam); his stepchildren, Russell Walster (Lori), Rhett Walster and Andrea Tutor; his grandchildren, Adam Ritzel (Samantha), Alex Muertz, Emily Faulkner (Tom), Evan Muertz (Victoria), Madelyn Adams, Kurt Jarvis, Kasondra Jarvis, Kaitlyn Jarvis, Samantha Muertz and Donny Muertz; his stepgrandchildren, Russell Ray Walster (Caitie), Abbie Walster (Jared), Harryson Walster, Kayla Mueth (Cameron), Cale Tutor, Logan Tutor and London Schefft; and his siblings, Richard Muertz (Nancy), Roseanne Kohnz and Mary Jean Wuertz. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, nieces; nephews; and cousins.
As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Louis Children's Hospital (Cancer Research).
