He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothea L. Shields; his parents, Albert Sr. Shields and Rose Shields; and his brothers, Raymond, Cletus, Emmett, Jerome and Leon Shields.
He is survived by: his children, Al Shields (Diane), Jim Shields (Mary), Jennifer Kirn (Chris) and Tommy Shields (Jenny); his grandchildren, Danielle Schoen (Tony), Ana Capilla (Saul), Zachary, Logan, Lauren Shields, Griffin, Emerson Kirn and Leo Shields; his great grandchildren, Liv and Eva Schoen; and his sister Joyce Koester. He is also survived by sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
As an expression of sympathy the family prefers memorial contributions to: American Cancer Society.
