With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Nellie Gay Johnson of Wataga, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 16, 2025 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by: her parents, John William Hobert and Norah Leah Carter (Pennington); her husband Raymond Johnson; her sons, Jessie William "Bill" Raymond Johnson and Jimmy Ray Johnson; and her brothers, Hobert Carter, George Carter and Pete Carter.
She is survived by: her daughters, Raylonda "Londie" Gay Benson (Larry) of San Diego, Gaeleanor "Sue" Johnson of Wataga and Leesa Maeleah Stodden (Keith) of Knoxville; and her sister Eleanor Landon of Abingdon. She is also survived by five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hinchliff Pearson West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service (206 N Washington St, Abingdon, IL 61410). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
