He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Schaal and Mabel Schaal (Kilpatrick); his daughter Deborah Walker; and his brother-in-law Bert Stoddard. He is survived by: his daughters, Karen Schaal of Washington, IL and Melanie Smet (John Smet) of Eureka, IL; his granddaughters, Shani Walker (Edward Barnes) of Douglas, MA and Kristen Derose (Michael Derose) of Hubbardston, MA; his son-in-law Michael Walker-Jones of Franklin, MA; and his sisters, Jean Stoddard of Monticello, IL and Mary Bach of Champagne, IL..
