He was predeceased by: his father Howard S. Spurgeon; his wife Joyce A. Green; and his grandson Luke Spurgeon. He is survived by: his children, Brent Spurgeon, Ellen Fitzpatrick and Jane Orr (Nick); his grandchildren, Emily Browning (Tim), Ben Orr (Karina), Molly Lage (Tyler), Kelly Payne (Thomas), Katie Allgood (Eli), Lydia Hirstein (Jake) and Brian Spurgeon; and his brothers, Olen and Melford. He is also survived by twenty two great-grandchildren.
