He was predeceased by: his father John H. Wood. He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Sturm; his children, Robert Wood of Van Nuys, CA and Bobbi Mullis (Chris) of Pekin; and his grandsons, Cody Wood (Jessica), Bryant Mullis and Dalton Mullis. He is also survived by two nephews and one niece.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of his grandson Bryant, who was granted a wish.
