He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Thurman and Viva Thurman (Wheeler); his son Alan; his daughter-in-law Debbie Thurman; and his siblings, Truman, Gene, John Thurman, Pauline Ring and Arlene Loeffler.
He is survived by: his wife Carrol Thurman of Warsaw; his children, Robert "Duckie" Thurman (Tonya) of Warsaw and Audrey Meade (Ron) of Niota, Illinois; his grandchildren, Alyssa Thurman-Nagel of University City, Sarah Ridinger (Duston) of Mt. Pleasant, Craig Meade (Shannon) of Oregon City, Alayna Climer (Matt) of Warsaw, Lacey Thurman-Degnan (Amanda), Lindsey Crenshaw (Tyler) of Warsaw and Lexis Hoener (Tommy) of Warsaw; and his great grandchildren, Layla Nagel, Miranda, Elijah Ridinger, Jack, Roman Meade, Easton, Emerson, Emerlee Crenshaw, Callum, Bennett, Hoener, Cash, Delilah, Sloane and Saige Thurman-Degnan. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
