He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ahlstrom Sr. and Bernice Wickler; and his sisters, Helen Hocking and Joyce Heim. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Uecker of Warren; his children, Jeff Ahlstrom (Marguerite), Jackie Ahlstrom, Judith Ahlstrom-Kuhn (Daryl) and Jennifer Ahlstrom Mayer; and his siblings, Lillian Rowley, Shirley Hastings (Duane), Beverly Prine, Stanley Ahlstrom (Mary) and Donald Ahlstrom (Peggy).

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name for the Warren Fire Department and Warren Area Ambulance Service.
