He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schmitt and Irene Schmitt (Osterkamp); and his grandson Daniel Schmitt. He is survived by: his mother-in-law Betty Newton Schmitt; his sons, Kyle Schmitt (Cindy) of Okawville, Chad Schmitt (Kacee) of Waltonville and Jared Schmitt (Alfreda) of Waltonville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kymberly Schmitt, Cody Schmitt and Candelyn Schmitt; and his sisters, Mary Ann Harp (Paul) of Carlinville and Carolyn Kelly of Carlinville, Illinois. He is also survived by three nephews.
