Charles Rodney Shurtz Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Charles Rodney Shurtz (Waltonville, Illinois), who passed away on April 2, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Georgia Shurtz (Fairchild) and Carl H. Shurtz; his siblings, Roger Shurtz of Max Shurtz, A. J, Dorothy Ferris and Carlyn Hirons; his granddaughter Brittani Shurtz; his parents-in-law, Delia and Russell Elliston; his brother David; and his sister-in-law Shirley Reeves.

He is survived by: his friend Dave Severin; his wife Marjorie; his sons, Rod (Tonya), Carl (Susan), Steve and Jeff; his grandchildren, Seiger (Leah) of Benton, IL, Sayler (Carson) of Herrin, IL, Macy of Herrin, IL, Natasha Dolan (Mike) of Bettendorf, IA, Nathan Shurtz of Saint Petersburg, FL, Georgie and Stricker of Benton, IL; his great grandchildren, Brittyn, Elam, Sunny, Grant, Drew, Collin and Jack; his sister Barb Shurtz of Waltonville; his sister-in-law Mary Shurtz of Virginia Beach, VA.; his brother Marvin; his sister-in-law Shelby Elliston; his brother Jim; and his sister-in-law Madelyn Slankard of Waltonville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, friends, and a special cat.
