She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Olivier and Mary Olivier (DeClercq); her husband Jarrell "Jerry" McCowen; and her siblings, Edward Olivier, Robert Olivier, Donald Olivier, Theresa Odle and Joyce Sedlacek.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Beth Lance (Ronald) of Mount Vernon, Harold McCowen (Cyndi) of San Antonio, John McCowen (Shelly) of Mount Vernon and Katrina Newell (Paul) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Stephanie White (Greg), Staci Bechtel (Brian), Chad Newell (Lexie), Lori Newell (Chris), Casey Newell (Claire), Craig Vishy (Morgan), Annie Berry (C. J.), Kayleigh McCowen and Shelby McCowen; her great grandchildren, Gabriel White, Maura White, Izaic Bechtel, Silas Newell, Carter Sakarelos, Sophia Bechtel, Sutton Newell, Willa Vishy, Henry Newell, Liam Berry and Loukas Sakarelos; and her sister Mary Jo Barva (Fred) of Mount Vernon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Betty's honor to Knob Prairie Cemetery or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
