With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joanne Stein of Virginia, Illinois, who passed away on November 29, 2023 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Jack G Stein; her brother Herbert Bloom (Harriet); and her parents, Matilda Bloom and Markus Bloom. She is survived by: her children, Alex (Judi), Mark (Alisa) and Marla; her grandchildren, Laura, Aviva (Owen) and Jonah; her brother Ronald Bloom (Lois); and her close friend Joanne.

“I’m sorry to learn of Joanne’s passing. I was a student at LVHS when she taught there., I then worked at Judge Stein’s law office for 11 years. My husband and I socialized many times over years with Jack and Joey and I with Joey until Covid. Then we lost contact. She was a brilliant woman who will be missed by so many.”
