He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Snitker and Elsie Flage Snitker; and his siblings, Calvin, Bernard and Eveyln.

He is survived by: his spouses, Joann Andregg and Elizabeth "Betty" Ricketts; his sons, Bruce Snitker (Connie) of Waukon, Richard Snitker (Jan) of Monona, Craig Snitker (Kathy) of Windsor and Clark Snitker (Norma) of Florida; and his stepchildren, Sherrill Zaric (Gordon) of Monmouth, Illinois, Ron Miller (Ann) of Monmouth and Matt Miller (Tabatha) of Colorado. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
