He was predeceased by: his parents, Lavergne Francis and Mary Ann Peters (Mason); and his sisters, Cheryl Hunsell, Terri Moore, Kathy Foshee and Pamela Hall.

He is survived by: his wife Sherrl Lovsey of Vandalia; his children, Julie (Michael Murphy) of Granite City, Rodger Lovsey II (Jessica) of Vandalia and James Lovsey (Jessica Diehl) of Jerseyville; his siblings, James Peters (Sue Ann) and Debra Verges (Sandra Maxvill); and his grandchildren, Julia Murphy, Hayley Murphy, Cali Lovsey, Everly Lovsey, Mikayla Lovsey, Aurora Diehl, Bella Bruce, Lexie Lee and Hunter Lee.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Hohlt & File Funeral Home to aide with expenses.
